Q:I just started reading The Vampire Diaries, and oh my goodness they are fantastic! Do you have any idea on how closely the new TV series will follow these wonderful books?

You'll see a number of differences right off the bat in the first ep. First, Elena's very young sister has been replaced by a troubled teen brother, and the siblings are returning to high school several months (as opposed to several years in the book) after their parents' deaths. TV Elena is the virtual opposite of book Elena: the blue-eyed blonde is now a Bella-like brunette. As for the vampires, instead of his romantic rooftop boarding-house quarters, Stefan lives with an "uncle" (another nonexistent character in the first novel)—but Damon is definitely eee-vil, beginning with the gruesome opening scene. Other characters and relationships have been slightly tweaked as well—for better or worse? We're dying to hear what you think, so be sure to let us know after the Sept. 10 premiere!

Looks like Vampire Diaries is having some interesting people doing some interesting roles.here are the details about it..

Marguerite MacIntyre, perhaps best known for her role as Nicole Trager on Kyle XY, has been cast as Sheriff Forbes in The Vampire Diaries. Yes, that’s right, Caroline’s mother is the Mystic Falls sheriff. How kick ass is it to have a woman be the face of The Law in this particular town? Very.

As for Tyler’s parents: Robert Pralgo, whom you may recognize from Army Wives, will be Mayor Lockwood, and Atlanta-born Susan Walters will play Mrs. Lockwood.

Chris Johnson, of South Beach, will be Logan Fell (formerly known as Logan Mills in the casting call posted some days back). If you’ve read the books, you know why we’re particularly intrigued by this new character.

And we’re happy to say that despite his lack of mention in the official CW press release, Chris William Martin is still kicking around the Salvatore Boarding House as Zach, probably in a very snazzy sweater.

The pilot episode has been seen by one of the guys and he has shared his review.I read the review and it looks like this show is going to have some good followers when it premiers on September 10,2009.Here is the review of the pilot episodes of Vampire Diaries.

Vampire Diaries in both its forms revolves around beautiful high-schooler Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and the vampire brothers keen on infiltrating her ordinary if tragedy-laced life—she’s just lost both parents in a car crash. Dobrev is likeable enough, even if the books do a better job of conveying Elena as the sad but popular beauty who doesn’t hesitate to use both friend and foe in achieving her ends. (She manages to charm rejected boyfriend Matt into helping her land new lover Stefan; despite these manipulations, Elena is more willfully oblivious than cruel.) Dobrev’s Elena is a little pale, and we can’t help wondering who she was before losing her parents.

In a wise turn, the CW replaced book-Elena’s cute-but-boring baby sis with drug-abusing teenage brother Jeremy, played with a quiet yet pained intensity by Steven R. McQueen. Dobrev and McQueen seem to have a decent rapport, even if the scene in which Elena confronts Jeremy over his drug use feels a little after-school special. Happily, the producers kept best friend Bonnie Bonnett (Katerina Graham) in the picture. A budding psychic with a quick humor, Bonnie provides more than just a sounding board for Elena’s boyfriend-drama.

Of course no vampire drama would be complete without some fanged fiends in attendance. Vampire Diaries offers forever-young brothers and former Mystic Falls residents, Stefan and Damon Salvatore. Played by Paul Wesley and Lost’s Ian Somerhalder respectively, the brothers—and vowed enemies—take opposite views on the whole bloodsucking thing. Wesley’s Stefan is a brooding Boreanaz-type who snacks on squirrels instead of humans. Returning to his hometown for unknown reasons, strong-jawed Stefan is immediately drawn to Elena. After a pleasant chat in the town cemetery, Elena and Stefan quickly bond over their shared prettiness and the fact that both keep diaries. (No one at the CW suggested a blog?) Of course, for Stefan the connection is strengthened by the fact that Elena looks a strange lot like a former lover.

Although Damon doesn’t show up until late in the first episode, his presence adds a much-needed element of, well, fun. “Your hair’s different. I like it,” Damon deadpans upon seeing his brother again. Playing the unapologetic quipping evil to Stefan’s sad fang-face, Damon promises a lifetime of misery before tossing Stefan around the house some for good measure. These are brothers with a darkly emotional history, and poor (or is it lucky?) Elena seems to have landed smack in the middle. Hopefully she’ll succeed in holding her own while caught between this supernatural pair.

Vampire Diaries, or the unfortunately acronymed VD, looks like it will make an interesting addition to the fall lineup. The characters—even the bloodsucking ones—seem less evil than the kids on Gossip Girl or The Hills, and if the pilot is any indication, the producers aren’t against a little violence and gore. Some of the dialogue is plainly bad, and the diary device a little hokey. Elena explains about her poor dead parents a few too many times throughout the episode. Still, Vampire Diaries has several things going for it, not the least of which is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. (“He has that romance novel stare,” Bonnie jokes re: new guy Stefan.) The CW might not be offering anything dramatically new with this series; it’s Romeo and Romeo and Juliet, and both Romeos are dead. Still, so far Vampire Diaries is doing a solid job with the old fare.

The CW's new fall series, The Vampire Diaries, is casting a new series regular to debut in episode six. The character, Alaric Saltzman, is a fan favorite from the series of books upon which the series is based. He is a young twenty-something history teacher whom executive producer Kevin Williamson described to me as "hot." The series will also be casting several local residents in Virginia, where the show shoots, to play several townspeople, including students' parents, the town sheriff and a pastor. Applicants must not have an aversion to sharp pointy teeth.

During a cocktail reception thrown by Warner Bros. Television for the Television Critics Association Press Tour, Ian Somerhalder spoke to press about what make his vampire different from all the others already out there.

Q: How would you describe Damon?

Ian: He's angry. He feels like he's been wronged, very badly, and he wants vengeance and redemption. However, he is lonely. He's the most lonely person I've ever known. Imagine being 170 years old. However old you are, at this point in time, imagine thinking about how much you know about life and quadrupling that, and seeing all the people you've ever known die around you. That probably makes you very cynical and lonely.

Q: How can Damon stay in town and not be discovered, when he actually does attack and kill humans? Do you think it will be too long before they figure out what's going on?

Ian: I think it's not going to be that long. They're coming in pretty quickly and pretty hard, with not trying to hold back too much to keep the audience stringing along. They're coming in fast, with a lot of information and a lot of storylines twisting and turning, and you see very quickly what Damon's thirst for vengeance is. You understand it quickly. And, there's a whole mythology to it, which makes it a lot of fun.

Q: Did you do a backstory for your character? Did they tell you a lot about him?

Ian: Oh, yeah. And, it's intense. Even people who are bad, it all stems from a place. It's coming from a place. When we're good to people, it's coming from a good place. When we're bad to people, it's coming from a bad place. But, we all have a reason for what we're doing, and Damon's is pretty justified. He feels as though he was hurt very badly in the past, and wronged very deeply, so he's ticked off and he's ready for some vengeance. It's going to be interesting. He has reasons for everything he does, so there will be shifts. The whole idea is that Damon has lost all humanity, but we will see different sides of him, as the season starts to play out.

Q: So, in your mind, he's not all bad?

Ian: No. He's a very dynamic, very complicated character. The relationship between Stefan, Damon and Elena is getting away from just this teen soap show. They're very complicated relationships.

Q: Are you really enjoying yourself?

Ian: It's so much fun. That's why he's so fun. Violence and brutality, for me, is never okay. I'm not a violent or brutal person, in the least bit. I'm actually really passive. But, his violence and brutality stems from someplace. Even people who are bad, do it for reasons. The reason why people like the bad boy in a film, a show, a book or a play is because they have so much fun doing what they're doing, while they're doing it. And, there's something that's interesting and enticing about watching someone like that. Even if he's being mean, he's having fun doing it. So, as humans, we're sickly drawn to that, and we're all guilty of it.

Q: Is it the dream job then, to be the kick-ass bad guy?

Ian: It's such a great role. I'm so lucky that I slipped those pills in Kevin Williamson's and everyone's drinks, to make them give me this job. They don't know that. What's great about this show is that Kevin Williamson reinvented television for teens, with Dawson's Creek. He flipped it around. And, this show says that it's okay to be confused, it's okay to be in love, it's okay to be sad, it's okay to feel lost, it's okay to be drawn to something that's dangerous and it's okay to feel all of these things. I'm 30, but looking back when you were in your teens, what a complicated, confusing time. I think this is going to hit on a lot of those elements, with a lot of layers and complicated ways of explaining how to deal with being young.

Q: What is the best part about this character?

Ian: It's just that he's so powerful and he has fun. We, as humans, are drawn to someone, even if he is a complete bastard, because he has fun doing what he's doing. People who have fun doing what they're doing, whether it's good or bad, are still fun to watch. We are weird, when it comes to that. The girls like the bad boy, and the boys like the bad girl.

Q: What is it about vampires, in particular? Why are vampires so hot right now?

Ian: That I don't know. A very big element of it is that Twilight did so well at the box office. But, and this is just completely subjective conjecture, in the last five years, the movie industry, especially with strikes and all these things, has started to fall off the map. It's these big, huge movies, like Iron Man and Batman, that are big comic book series films, that are making these studios all this cash, and the other movies have just fallen to the wayside, which is kind of crazy. The mythology behind vampires was always there, and it's never really gone away, but now you have this market for it. They're fun. There's an element of power. They're sexy, they're dangerous, they're beautiful and there is something that draws you to them. I don't know who can explain it, but it's here, and it's here for awhile. There is something about the non-human of it all, which allows these characters to do things that we can't do, and there's a lot of escapism in that.

Q: How does the relationship between Damon and Stefan change, throughout the series?

Ian: That is definitely to be seen. There are so many elements that are going to dictate that because of the mythology of it all. These two brothers have very different views on life. Damon has decided to not dismiss his heritage, which is, unfortunately, feeding on people. That's what vampires do. It's like if a human being decided to stop eating, essentially. And, Stefan, because of his love for people or just his desire to not have to brutally kill them, has decided not to, which makes it invariably difficult to hang out. And so, there are going to be a lot of twists and turns that are going to illustrate how different they are, and the bouncing back and forth of good to bad and bad to good. There are so many places that they can go.

Q: What's the deal with Elena? Is she a reincarnation of Stefan's true love, or is she a distant relative?

Ian: I've been twist their arms to find that out, but they won't tell us. It's probably better because we'll be married to the ideas of what they give us. And, they're smart enough not to tell actors ‘cause they know that we'll talk to you guys.

Q: Are you going to go back in time to show how Damon became a vampire in the 1800's?

Ian: I think we're going to see bits and pieces of that.

Q: Will there be a lot of action with this role?

Ian: Yeah. I'll be flying on wires and stuff. It's just fun. We'd been working on the top of this building, five stories up. It was high. But, I was on a wire, where I could lean over the edge. I was harnessing my chi and trying not to be afraid, but I was in character and I wasn't even thinking about the fact that I could fall off of that thing. You can't because the wire stops you, but having your body leaning over the edge of something like that is a very strange feeling. We had to shoot an effects shot, where I was jumping off of what looked like that building, but I only had to jump six feet backwards. And, I sat there for 20 minutes, trying to tell my body to jump backwards onto a bunch of pads. It's so counter-intuitive because your body says, "No." They were patient, but it's one of those things where jumping around and doing things that are physically very odd to your body, takes a little bit of time to do.

Q: Are you spending more time in the gym?

Ian: I'm doing lots of gym time. I'm there often. It takes a lot of stamina. Damon feeds off of nothing, but human blood. That's it. He's strong, but there's this element of purity to him. I've changed my diet. Everything is just clean and pure. It's so boring.

Q: Have you noticed a change in your body?

Ian: Oh, yeah. My shape has changed. There's a certain element of being physically very powerful. It's more menacing. And, there's something about a person's physical solidarity. Damon is very much that guy.

Q: Do you and Paul work out together?

Ian: Unfortunately, we only see each other on set. When we're not on set, we're sleeping or in the gym. It's just a matter of feeling good and having stamina.

Q: How is the move to Atlanta, Georgia?

Ian: It's great. I'm from the deep South, so it's great to be there. It's the same air. It's that great Southern air.

Q: When you were a kid growing up, were you into vampires?

Ian: I was. I grew up with Anne Rice. I knew all that stuff. And, there's also this mystique in New Orleans. There's a mystical, vampirial thing about it. It was always there, and it's very underlying there. There's something about it that's really interesting, enticing, dangerous and sexy.

Q: Do you watch True Blood?

Ian: I'm just starting to. I couldn't until I booked this show because I so badly wanted to do that show, and I had a really bad meeting with Alan Ball and I blew it in the room. And, I was so pissed at myself that I just couldn't bring myself to watch that show. Now, I have a really great role on a killer show, no pun intended, and I want to be able to watch it and get into it. I've met all those guys and dig them. Marcos Siega, our supervising producer who's directing a bunch of our episodes and running our show in Atlanta, has worked on True Blood quite a bit, and he's bringing us all these really cool things.

Q: Which role were you up for?

Ian: Sookie's brother, Jason. Ryan Kwanten got the role.

Q: Maybe it's a lucky escape because he is naked in pretty much every episode.

Ian: Oh, really? I already did that for HBO, so maybe I skipped a good one.

Q: Have you seen Twilight?

Ian: I have to be honest with you, I have not seen it, just because I don't want it to influence any ideals of my own performance, by virtue of the fact that there are a lot of similarities. Neither Paul Wesley or myself has seen the film. Not for nothing. It was a very specific reason, just ‘cause I don't want to compare myself to them. I don't even want that in my head.

Q: How do you feel about the comparisons to Twilight?

Ian: I haven't seen the movie because I don't want to subconsciously compare them, but those comparisons are absolutely fine. Their success paved the way for our existence, so I'm not going to complain.

Q: What do you think of people talking about who has the hotter vampires?

Ian: Robert Pattinson is a handsome sucker. He's got every woman wrapped around his finger. Apparently, this guy has the quintessential male role. Every girl in the world wants that guy. So, good for him.

Q: How is Damon going to be different from other vampires?

Ian: Damon does whatever he wants. He goes in the sun. I really want Kevin to write an episode where Damon goes down to the Caribbean for awhile, for some reason. He wears a lapis stone ring that allows vampires to go out into the sun, so he can go chill in the Virgin Islands for awhile and maybe bite some people down there.

Q: Do you think of Damon as being a guy with these powers, or do you ever forget that he's a vampire?

Ian: Oh, yeah. You're not going to see that for awhile, but you'll start to see it when he's around Elena.

Q: How are the make-up and fangs to wear?

Ian: The new fangs that we have just go on our teeth. There's no bridge, so they don't affect your speech patterns at all. I could recite the Gettysburg address, like it was nothing. It's unbelievable how cool it is to do scenes with it.

Q: Would you want to have the immortality of a vampire?

Ian: No way! Life is about the relationships that we have. It's not about just us. It's about our family, our friends, our children. We have a certain amount of time to do things. If you were immortal, it never ends. It just seems like it would be such a lonely existence.

Q: As an actor, what attracted you to playing a vampire?

Ian: Because it's so fun. It's dynamic, in the sense that it's a lot of fun. You have powers that you wouldn't have, as a mortal human being, and that gives you a lot of good things to play with. As an actor, you dream of stuff like that. That's what you want.

Q: Did you read the books that this show is based on, for your character's backstory?

Ian: Well, I started to. I have the books and I'm reading them, but Kevin, (executive producer) Bob Levy and (executive producer) Julie Pec have said that the books are a foundation for the basis of the show. They gave it to Julie and Kevin and said, "What is your vision? Take this to your level." It's not that literal, and I'm sure that will upset a lot of people. But, it's one of those things where this is their vision of this foundation, which is great.

Q: Was there ever anything you were into as seriously as some of the fans of the vampire genre?

Ian: To be honest with you, I did a lot of theater when I was young and I was obsessed with that. But, I grew up on a horse, out in the middle of the woods, so I was really obsessed with understanding the land, tracking animals, fishing and building things. I read a lot and I watched a lot of films, but I was always more into what we were doing as kids, with our horses and our equestrian life and fishing. I grew up in the middle of nowhere, in Louisiana.

Q: Do you still ride?

Ian: I do. Not as much as I'd like to, though. I would like to spend about six years on this show and do a couple of movies, and then cash out and spend the rest of my life on a horse. That would be a good idea.

Q: Are you going to be returning to Lost?

Ian: That's the idea.

Q: Are you going to go back to the plane, before it crashed?

Ian: I don't know any of that stuff, but that's the idea. We're working it out and making it happen.

Q: Do you have any idea what the storyline would be?

Ian: I have no clue. And, I probably won't know until the day I get there. That is the one thing that I am really curious about. Over the years, those guys have gotten so smart to not tell actors anything because we talk to you guys.

Q: Were you surprised when you got the call about returning to the show?

Ian: We had spoken about it for awhile, and then I hung out with Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse at Comic-Con and we came to the conclusion that this will happen. So, we're just working out the details. The problem is just the dates. Honolulu is really far from Atlanta, and I'm on the schedule every day with The Vampire Diaries. Usually, when I would go back to do an episode of Lost, it was a seven-day vacation with a great hotel suite on the beach, lots of per diem, a convertible to drive around in and massages. This is going to be a red eye from Atlanta to Hawaii, getting off the plane, shooting, crashing and then going back.

Q: Are you excited to revisit Boone?

Ian: One last time, yeah. It will be fun. I just can't wait.

Q: Is it nice to know that you'll be able to play a part in closing out this show that you helped get started?

Ian: Yeah. Hopefully, it will be different and Boone can get his power back. There was always some element of solidarity in him. It was just never able to be played out. But, I could be completely wrong. He could just be the same push-over he was.

Q: Have you kept up with the show at all, as the seasons have progressed?

Ian: I haven't been able to, as much as I'd like to. But, I'm going to do some major catching up, before I go down there.

Q: What is The Tournament, and who do you play in that?

Ian: I wish it would come out. It's a lot of fun. It's a very shoot-em-up movie that's a battle royale. It's a contemporary assassin movie, but it's a lot of fun. Ving Rhames, Robert Carlyle and Kelly Hu are also in it. There are a lot of bullets and stuff. My character is equally, if not worse than Damon. And, I had never played that guy before, so it was fun.

Q: What is How to Make Love to a Woman?

Ian: I haven't seen the film. It was a great script and a lot of fun. That guy was the complete opposite. He's a really sweet advertising executive who was a childhood friend of Krysten Ritter's character. He's this really sweet guy. He had no bad intentions at all.

Q: When you're back at home, where do you like to go in L.A.?

Ian: My house is right off the beach, on the border of Venice and Santa Monica. It is just the most beautiful neighborhood in the world. I love both the dark and the light of it. I spend every morning and every evening on the beach, and in my favorite local neighborhood spots. Everyone knows each other, and you never drive. The only time I drive is to go to Whole Foods or the dry cleaners, or to go into the city.

Q: Do you like the Boardwalk?

Ian: I am on the Boardwalk every day of my life. It never ceases to be more fun than just getting on your beach cruiser and cruising down the Venice Boardwalk.

Q: Are you really missing it while you're in Atlanta?

Ian: I've only been in Atlanta for a couple of weeks now, and there's a very definite difference. It was 98 degrees when I left, with 75% humidity.

Q: Do you get recognized from Lost, when you're there?

Ian: Yeah. I was just talking to Matthew Fox a couple weeks ago, and he was in the most northern tip of Scotland and was amazed that he was recognized. With something like Lost, you could be hiding in the desert in Egypt and someone would go, "Hey, are you that guy?"

“There’s just something about vampires that’s sexy,” says the 20-year-old Canadian. “It’s the same reason why women go for the bad boy — you want them but you shouldn’t have them.”

Based on the young adult series by L.J. Smith, “Diaries” tells the story of Elena (Dobrev), a popular, happy-go-lucky teen who finds herself caught in a dark love triangle with a pair of “undead” brothers, played by “Lost” alum Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley of “Everwood” fame.

Sound familiar? Some critics think so and have suggested “Diaries” is nothing more than a “Twilight” rip-off, but Dobrev disagrees. “[‘The Vampire Diaries’] was written 15 years before ‘Twilight’ even existed, so this isn’t a show taking advantage of the success of that,” she says.

Still, Dobrev admits comparisons are unavoidable. “Both are about vampires, so there are going to be similarities whether we like it or not,” she says. “[But] we’re darker than ‘Twilight.’ We’re a little steamier.”

The show also features much gorier special effects, something that’s been a challenge for Dobrev. “I literally pass out when I see blood,” she says. “It’s very inconvenient for what I’m doing.”

Offscreen, Dobrev spends her time hanging out with best friend — and fellow CW talent — “Beautiful Life” star Sara Paxton. “It’s so cool because we get to experience everything, like all the promotional events and photo shoots, together,” says Dobrev, who was born in Bulgaria before moving to the Toronto suburbs as a toddler. She seriously pursued rhythmic gymnastics in high school before eventually deciding she wanted to become an actress.

“I didn’t have a stage mom at all,” Dobrev recalls. “I was the one who planned out my auditions and drove myself an hour and a half into the city.” All the hard work paid off when she was cast as a teen mom on the cult Canadian soap “Degrassi: The Next Generation.”

Nina Dobrev stars as Elena Gilbert, a beautiful young girl caught between two
vampire brothers – one good, one evil -- in The CW’s new drama, “The Vampire
Diaries.”
Dobrev recently wrapped production on Montecito Pictures’ “Chloe,” with
Julianne Moore, Amanda Seyfried and Liam Neeson. Past film credits include “Fugitive
Pieces,” with Ayelet Zurer and Rosamund Pike, “Away From Her,” with Julie Christie
and “The Poet.”
Other television credits include lead roles on “DeGrassi: The Next Generation”
and MTV’s “The American Mall,” as well as a guest appearance on “Eleventh Hour.”

Paul Wesley stars as Stefan Salvatore, a vampire struggling to live at peace with
human beings, in The CW’s new drama “The Vampire Diaries.”
On the big screen, Wesley just completed production on “Beneath the Blue,” the
sequel to the award-winning feature “Eye of the Dolphin.” Wesley stars as Craig
Morrison in this story about an ongoing, inner battle of conscience, trust and loyalty.
Wesley was last seen in “Killer Movie,” which premiered at the 2008 Tribeca Film
Festival. He played Jake Tanner, a young director who is sent to a remote town to direct
a reality series and senses something is not quite right when, one by one, his crew goes
missing. His film credits also include “Peaceful Warrior,” opposite Nick Nolte, and the
cult favorite “Roll Bounce.”
In the summer of 2007, Wesley starred in “Fallen,” the four-part miniseries based
on the hit book series by Tom Sniegoski, chronicling the journey of an 18-year-old
(Wesley) who struggles to come to terms with his newly discovered identity as he is

Damon Salvatore in “The Vampire Diaries”
Ian Somerhalder plays Damon Salvatore, the elder and far more dangerous of two
vampire brothers who share a long and bitter history, in The CW’s new drama “The
Vampire Diaries.”
Somerhalder is well known for his role as Boone on J.J. Abrams’ critically
acclaimed drama “Lost.” He won the 2005 SAG Award as part of “Outstanding
Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series” and “Lost” won the 2005 Emmy Award
for “Best Television Series - Drama.” The show was also nominated for the 2004 Golden
Globe Award and the 2004 People’s Choice Award.
Somerhalder will next appear on the big screen in Scott Mann’s “The
Tournament,” opposite Robert Carlyle, Ving Rhames and Kelly Hu. The film is about a
battle that takes place every ten years between 40 of the world’s deadliest assassins.

Steven R. McQueen stars as Jeremy Gilbert, a troubled teen on a dangerous and
self-destructive path since the death of his parents, in The CW’s new drama, “The
Vampire Diaries.”
McQueen has already built an impressive resume of television appearances. He
had a recurring role as a musical prodigy on the drama “Everwood,” and a leading role in
the Disney Channel movie “Minutemen.” His guest-starring roles have included series
such as “CSI: Miami,” “Without a Trace,” “Numbers” and “Threshold.”
On the big screen, McQueen appeared in the independent film “Club Soda,” for
which he won the Beverly Hills Film Festival Audience Award for Best Actor. He also
has a leading role in the upcoming sci-fi action film “Piranha 3-D,” with Elizabeth Shue
and Jerry O’Connell.
McQueen is skilled in martial arts, ice hockey, kickboxing and horseback riding.

Jenna Somers in “The Vampire Diaries”
Sara Canning plays Jenna Somers, the loving aunt trying to care for her teenage
niece and nephew after the death of their parents, on The CW’s new drama, “The
Vampire Diaries.”
Canning’s love of performing began at a very young age; she was a competitive
figure skater for much of her childhood and early adolescence. Later, she graduated from
the Vancouver Film School’s prestigious acting program.
Canning made her professional acting debut in the stage production of “1984” at
the Citadel Theater in Edmonton, Alberta. She soon began working steadily in television,
with guest starring roles in series like “Smallville” and “Kyle XY.” Feature film roles
swiftly followed, in projects such as “Paparazzi Princess: The Paris Hilton Story, “Slap
Shot 3” and “Come Dance at My Wedding.”
Her breakthrough role came with the cable film “Taken in Broad Daylight.” In
the based-on-a-true story movie, she starred as Anne Sluti, a teen whose bravery and
intelligence led the police to locate her captor after she was abducted from a shopping
mall by a deranged killer, played by James Van Der Beek.
Most recently, Canning’s classical training and dialect work came in handy for
her role in the independent feature “Black Field,” in which she played a 19th Century
Scottish émigré making a life in the untamed Canadian wilderness.
Beyond performing, Canning’s passions also include other aspects of
entertainment. Last year, she wrote and produced an independent film, which was
developed as her student thesis project.
Canning was born in Gander, Newfoundland and currently resides in Atlanta,
Georgia, where “The Vampire Diaries” is filming.

Katerina Graham stars as Bonnie Bennett, the girl with psychic powers who is
Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) best friend, in The CW’s new drama “The Vampire Diaries.”
Born in Geneva, Switzerland, Graham speaks four languages, and was exposed to
different cultures from an early age. Her father, Joseph, was a music executive. Her
grandfather was a United Nations Ambassador from Liberia. The family moved to Los
Angeles, California when Graham was 4 years old.
Graham began doing commercials at the age of 6, appearing in spots for Barbie,
K-Mart, Pop Tarts, and Edison. Her first big break came when she replaced a young
Christina Milian as the host of the series “Movie Surfers.” Her television credits include
guest spots on such shows as “Joan of Arcadia,” “Like Family,” “Grounded For Life,”
“Lizzie McGuire,” “CSI: Las Vegas,” “The O.C.,” “Malcolm in The Middle,” “Strong
Medicine” and “Hannah Montana.”
At the age of 15, Graham was chosen by choreographer Fatima to perform at the
BET Awards as a background dancer for Lil’ Bow Wow. That experience led to other
stints as a background dancer for Missy Elliott, Pharrell, Jamie Foxx, and choreographers
Hi Hat and Michael Rooney.
In addition to her acting and dancing abilities, Graham wrote and sang a song
titled “Derailed,” which was featured in a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie. At 17,
Katerina was selected by the Coca-Cola Company as part of an international campaign to
market their soft drink Fanta. While promoting the campaign as a member of the
“Fantanas” (as Capri/Strawberry), Graham simultaneously completed her degree in
recording engineering. She recently finished a world tour with The Black-Eyed Peas, and
her voice is featured on Will.I.Am’s solo release “Songs About Girls” (“I Got It From
My Mama”) and “The Donque Song,” featuring Snoop Dogg.
Graham was seen in the film “17 Again,” with Zac Efron and Matthew Perry.
Her upcoming film projects include “Our First Christmas” and “Bleachers,” the remake
of “The Breakfast Club.” She can also be seen in “Chicago Pulaski Jones,” directed by
Cedric the Entertainer. She recently completed filming the movie “Boogie Town,” with
Marques Houston, Brenda Song, and Vanessa Simmons, as well as the upcoming thriller
“The Roommate,” with Leighton Meester of “Gossip Girl.”

CANDICE ACCOLA
Caroline Forbes in “The Vampire Diaries”
Candice Accola makes her debut as a series regular in The CW’s new drama “The
Vampire Diaries” as the manipulative Caroline Forbes, the nemesis of former friend
Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev).
Accola recently completed filming the independent film “The Truth About
Angels.” She was last seen in a featured role in the smash hit “Juno,” opposite Ellen
Page and Michael Cera. She also starred in “Deadgirl,” the independent horror film that
was met with much critical attention and internet buzz at the Toronto Film Festival in
2008. The film will be in limited release in the summer of 2009. On television, she has
had guest starring roles in The CW’s “Supernatural,” as well as “Greek” and “How I Met
Your Mother.”
Accola is best known for her musical talents, and she provided back up vocals in
“Hannah Montana: The Movie,” as well as touring with the “Miley Cyrus/Hannah
Montana Best of Both Worlds” tour in 2008. An accomplished singer and songwriter
since the age of 14, she achieved success in her music career after being signed to a
record deal at the age of 16. Her music has garnered international success, and she
continues to record and write her own music.
Accola was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, and currently resides in Atlanta,
Georgia, where “The Vampire Diaries” films.

ZACH ROERIG
Matt Donovan in “The Vampire Diaries”
In The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries,” Zach Roerig makes his primetime series
regular debut as Matt Donovan, the quintessential all-American athlete and big man on
campus.
Many viewers will remember Roerig from his recent high-profile arc as Tyra’s
(Adrianne Palicki) bad boy beau, rodeo star Cash, on the critically acclaimed drama
“Friday Night Lights.”
While 2009 marks Roerig’s true introduction into primetime television, he is no
stranger to hard, steady work. Born and raised Northwestern Ohio, Zach assisted in his
family business and played competitive sports, including football and wrestling.
Growing up in a small, rural town, Roerig has always been avid outdoorsman. In his
later years of high school, he caught the acting bug and began commuting to Cleveland
(the closest big city) to begin formal training. Upon graduation Zach moved to New
York to pursue his dream of a career as an actor.
Within a matter of months, he landed the role of Casey Hughes on the daytime
serial “As the World Turns,” where he made such an impression on the producers and
fans that he was soon offered a long-term contract. His two-year stint on the soap
allowed him to continue to hone his craft while enjoying steady work as an actor. During
this time he also shot two pilots: “The Prince” and “Split Decision,” and made a guest
appearance on “Law and Order.”
Shortly after leaving “As The World Turns,” Roerig made his feature film debut
in the ensemble comedy “The Assassination of a High School President.” The film,
which stars Bruce Willis, was an official selection at The 2008 Sundance Film Festival.
This summer, Roerig completed a lead role the independent feature film “Strawberry
Wine,” and also served as one of the film’s executive producers.
Roerig currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, where “The Vampire Diaries” is
filming.

KAYLA EWELL
Vicki Donovan in “The Vampire Diaries”
Kayla Ewell plays Vicki Donovan, a small town girl who is caught up in the violent
feud between two vampire brothers, in The CW’s new drama, “The Vampire Diaries.”
Ewell first discovered her love of acting when she participated in the children’s
chorus for the national tour of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” Since
then she has landed lead roles in the films “Fired Up,” “Impact Point” and “Senior Skip
Day,” as well as roles in Martha Coolidge’s “Material Girls,” with Hilary Duff, and Donald
Petrie’s “Just My Luck,” with Lindsay Lohan.
Ewell’s television credits include a series regular role on “The Bold and the
Beautiful,” where she originated the role of Caitlin Ramirez. She had recurring roles on the
hit shows “Entourage,” “The O.C.,” “Boston Public,” “Freaks and Geeks” and “The Sullivan
Sisters.” Additional guest starring roles include “Bones,” “Close to Home,” “Veronica
Mars,” “The Profiler” and “Gulliver’s Travels.” In addition, her appearance as the girl on the
beach in the Counting Crows’ national Coca-Cola campaign garnered her national attention.
Ewell is accomplished in tap, jazz, and hip-hop dance. She also enjoys surfing, rock
climbing and white water rafting. She currently resides in Los Angeles and in Atlanta,
Georgia, where “The Vampire Diaries” films.

MICHAEL TREVINO
Taylor Lockwood in “The Vampire Diaries”
Michael Trevino plays Taylor Lockwood, a volatile young man who clashes with
the mysterious new student in The CW’s new drama “The Vampire Diaries.”
Born to Mexican parents in Valencia, California, Trevino was raised in East Los
Angeles. Once he discovered his passion for acting, he enrolled at Playhouse West for
theater studies. One of his first jobs was an Old Navy Commercial. Since then, Trevino
has had guests spots in various shows, including “Charmed,” “Summerland,” “Bones,”
“90210,” “The Mentalist” and “CSI: Miami.” Most recently he had a five-episode guest
spot on “The Riches,” co-starring Minnie Driver and Eddie Izzard. In 2007, he was
selected to play Jimmy Smits’ oldest son Jaime on the family drama “Cane.”
In the past year, Trevino was one of the leads in the Hallmark movie “Love Finds
a Home,” which also starred Patty Duke. He has also completed work on “The Factory,”
a motion picture starring John Cusack, set to be in theaters in 2010.
An avid sportsman, Trevino enjoys football, surfing, body boarding, snow
boarding and deep sea fishing. He is also a talented dancer.
Trevino now divides his time between Los Angeles and Atlanta, Georgia, where
“The Vampire Diaries” films.

KEVIN WILLIAMSON
Executive Producer of “The Vampire Diaries
At the helm of both film and television, Kevin Williamson has established himself
in Hollywood as a true visionary whose unprecedented success created immediate
attention. He has garnered respect not just as a writer, but also as a producer and director
whose visions have resulted in some of the most lucrative franchise vehicles ever made.
Williamson’s first foray into television was the series “Dawson’s Creek,” a show
that instantly became a pop culture phenomenon. The show launched then-unknown
actors James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson and Michelle Williams into

Columbia Pictures hit thriller “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” featuring debut
performances of some of the hottest young actors in Hollywood, including Sarah
Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe. Immediately following that success, Williamson
produced “Halloween: H2O,” which starred Jamie Lee Curtis and one of his “Dawson’s
Creek” stars, Michelle Williams. Next, he collaborated with director Robert Rodriguez
on the hit sci-fi thriller “The Faculty.” Looking for the next challenge in his career,
Williamson made his feature film directorial debut in 1999 with “Teaching Mrs. Tingle.”
This black comedy centers around a group of students who hold their teacher hostage
after a series of innocent events turn dangerous. Helen Mirren starred in the title role
along with Katie Holmes. The project was shot from the first script Williamson ever
wrote and was inspired by comments from his real-life English teacher, who repeatedly
predicted Williamson would never amount to anything.

Executive Producer of “The Vampire Diaries”
Julie Plec skillfully juggles work in film and television as both a producer and a
writer. Currently, she is the co-creator and co-executive producer of “The Vampire
Diaries” with Kevin Williamson. Prior to that, Plec was a co-executive producer on
“Kyle XY” for ABC Family. She actually produced the pilot for “Kyle XY” as the head
of Benderspink’s television production arm, then joined the show as a writer/producer in
its first season. She shared the showrunner duties through the show’s three-year run.
Plec’s other produced television credits include “Wasteland” and “Dawson’s
Creek.” Past feature co-producing credits include “Scream 3,” Greg Berlanti’s “Broken
Hearts Club,” Wes Craven’s “Cursed” and “The Breed.”

Executive Producer of “The Vampire Diaries” and “Gossip Girl”
Leslie Morgenstein has served as president of Alloy Entertainment and its
predecessor, 17th Street Productions, Inc., since 1999, overseeing the company’s
operations, strategy and creative mission. He produces or executive produces Alloy
Entertainment’s television and feature film projects. In addition to “The Vampire
Diaries,” Alloy is currently in production on The CW series “Gossip Girl,” now in its
third season, and the web series “Private.” Morgenstein additionally served as executive
producer on The CW series “Privileged,” the ABC Family six-hour series “Samurai Girl”
and “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” feature films. He produced the feature film
“Sex Drive” and the DVD-premiere movie “The Clique.”
In addition to film and television, Alloy is the most successful independent
packager of fiction in the world. Approximately 50 of the company’s titles have achieved
New York Times bestseller status, including “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”
“Gossip Girl,” “The Clique,” “The Luxe” and “Pretty Little Liars.” Their newest book
launch, “Hollywood is like High School with Money,” is set for release in summer 2009.
Morgenstein has an undergraduate degree in writing and photography from Sarah
Lawrence College, a MBA in finance from New York University’s Stern School of

Bob Levy, Alloy Entertainment’s executive vice president of film and television
development and production, has worked in the entertainment industry for more than two
decades, spanning network, cable and public television. He joined Alloy Entertainment
in 2001 following ten years at NBC, where he was the vice president of primetime series
and was closely involved with such shows as “Mad About You,” “Caroline in the City,”
and the critically acclaimed “Working.”
As head of Alloy Entertainment’s West Coast office, Levy oversees the
company’s extensive involvement in film and television development. He is an executive
producer on all of Alloy Entertainment’s television projects including The CW series
“Gossip Girl” and “The Vampire Diaries,” as well as last year’s critically acclaimed
series “Privileged” and “Samurai Girl,” which aired on ABC Family. Levy was a
producer on the company’s 2008 feature films “Sex Drive” and “The Clique.”
Levy holds a bachelor’s degree cum laude from Brown University. He resides in
Los Angeles.

Looks like there are not much news about Vampire Diaries show and hence I thought that I could write about some similar shows that is running...Yeah I believe that all of you might have guessed the name of the show by now...Yes its none other than True Blood.At present HBO is airing True Blood season 2 and it looks like it has more viewership this summer than any other shows.I have seen True Blood season 1 and I believe that it can be a great hit show as the plot line was really good but differed a bit from the books.I hope that the writers will make Vampire Diaries also as good as True Blood.I am yet to catch the season 2 of True Blood but any way guys you can watch True Blood season 2 0nline for free over at this blog Watch True Blood season 2 blog.Please watch the episodes and share your comments on True Blood season 2.
